+theSTANDARD Pool Party

There's always things to do in the areas of  LA, from shopping, to beaches, to bars and pool parties. During the Summer, The Standard in downtown is known for their fun get togethers with local djs and people who just want some fun in the sun. Plus, a great view of downtown. Headed out with some close friends to enjoy our Saturday.

This is AJ and Ashley's pad. They have huge windows with a nice view. My outfit was weirded out with a winter jacket, a fedora, and athelete shorts. It was a pool party and these shorts were so cute so i decided to wear them oddly, with the rest of my outfit. Hey, if i can pull it off, so can you! I wasn't going to bring my jacket but it was chilly outside. A big thank you to Ashley and AJ for many of the photo shots below! Here I am with Jeremy and Ashley.

My favorite drink: Adios

Some fashion trends in LA: the indie/boho look, lace, black, and high low pieces.

Shoes, socks & shoes, and more shoes.

This would be a no-no outfit. She looked like she was going to a rave party or something.

I just met Steph here. I loved her big and bold color printed cardigan. The thing i love about LA is that most people are fun and easy going. I meet new people every time i head out some where. It's all about connections in LA.

print+mixin'

The one thing that made clothing so attractive to me, were prints. To find the most beautiful, unique, and inexpensive prints, i had to shop secondhand stores. I was fortunate that my oldest sister introduced secondhand stores to me when I was in elementary school. We were wearing bell bottoms again after the 70's then. And I never even knew the word "fashion" existed as a child. I lived in Fresno, so you would understand why i knew nothing of this field. Even growing up, I didn't know that fashion even had an industry until I was in my senior year of high school. I remember that day clearly as I was walking to class and some chick said to me "I always see you around school and you've got great style." From that day on, I really started thinking to myself "Hey, maybe there's a future in this field." I went on into college for a business degree, to some day own my own clothing store. What I realized that I wanted more than owning my own business, was making my own unique clothes, and dressing differently from the rest. I've been out of high school for a long time, haven't gone far enough in the fashion industry, but still walking every day of life, with eyes wide open, and a dream i must make reality.

Anyways, this week's outfit is based on print mixin'. My cousin Eazy took the photos when she last visited. I love to play with colors and prints. Houndstooth prints will never go out of style, so find your favorite piece and keep it forever. Also, animal prints will never go out of style. This one is from the new horse trend that has been going on since last year. Again, the one thing i love about trends is that they get cheaper to purchase since everyone is carrying them. The one thing i hate about them, is that if it was your favorite style to wear, now everyone is going to look just like you! That's when you gotta step up the plate and find a new favorite! It's sad but i've donated many favorite pieces because i just didn't want to see my twin. Rings are my favorite from h&m. Platforms are from a boutique at Santee Alley! Love them!

I finally started my new collection of leather strapped chokers to be worn with collar shirts. They're unisex and made to order. $20.00 each and you get one design of the vintage dominos shown in the photo. These will be up on my site later this week for ordering and more details!

New arrivals will be up this weekend. Don't forget my $3.00 shipping on all USA orders! http://www.moddame.com/

+trendingSHOES!

BTW - NEW ARRIVALS UP AT:http://www.moddame.com/ !!

This past weekend, my sisters came down for a visit. We've been shopping and gathering ideas for her wedding coming up in May. Yes, May already and we're still just looking around! I will be in charge of designing the bridesmaid's flower belt. I'll show some of them when i actually start working on them. I'll be buying artificial flowers this weekend to start. I picked up these pretty vines this past weekend.

So, shoes and shoes it is! I wanted to show you guys some of the shoes that are out for Spring and under $30! The Santee Alley is always up to date on cheap shoes and mass trend. There's probably more people there than at the malls. Firstly, loafers are the biggest flat shoe trend right now. They're coming in all colors and prints and by all sorts of designers. These spring colors are a great addition to Spring up any of your outfits!

These platforms are the newest additions to the shoe world. Yes, we've worn something similar back in middle school LOL. It's just funny how fashion just comes around and around like the circle of life! Now, that's another story. Anyways, back to shoes! If you want the newest trending shoes, try these out in gorgeous Spring colors. I'm super short and like shoes that elongate my legs, so i'm alittle worried to jump into these. But, I think i'm going to get one on my next visit. They're just really cute!

Look at these fun tribal printed platforms. These are so cute for Spring and i love the colors you can find them in these days.

Here's another tribal, south western print that poppin' in fashion. These are really cute if you like sexy and trendy together in one! I'm avoiding the skinny heel so they're not my favorite, but i do like the print. BTW, as you can tell, PLATFORMS EVERYWHERE! Get used to it ladies!

Florals and florals all over in all sorts of big and small prints. These were really cute and in a platform mary jane style.

Another reason why i love shopping in LA, $1.00 lashes that i don't really take care of after i use them!

And, when i say i'm really short on cash these days, i really mean it. I was so proud of myself to only bring home one pair of shoes: these super cute braided flats. Michael and i got the same pair!

Hey! Can't go wrong with more glasses! And these are adorable on!

The ladies prep for the nights!

Joan, my two sisters Michael & Diana and I getting ready for Busby's on Friday night! It was really fun! Again, hitting up Busby in an all-out sexy bling bling dress is a no-no! Busby's is a bar with a huge dance floor. Just look sexy in something slim fitting! I'm wearing a tank dress from h&m and my nude platforms.

Now, for Saturdays at Belasco, you can go bling bling!! It was Mardi-Gra's night and i was telling my sisters that we should get a mask! LOL, the last time i told her to dress up for this club's event, we were one of the only ladies in a bikini for the "beach theme". She was going to kill me! So, this time, we just played it up with some bright colors. I loved it!

Here's a photo at Belasco

My weekends are always busy with family, friends, and life. I feel like i'm always working and never getting enough rest. Yet, when i do nothing, i feel like nothing is getting done. This weekend, i'm totally going to be a lazy couch potato. I'll be shooting some dresses i have for Prom! They'll be up on my site for the season. I'll update you all on that later! Until the next blog, have a great weekend!

Don't forget! New Arrivals up on the site http://www.moddame.com/ !
